How Do We Reinvest in & Redevelop Our Aging Neighborhoods?
Town Hall Meeting & Fundraiser for Harris/Waltz for President
Oct. 8, at 7pm - Register Here
Our condominium complexes are aging. We know the horror stories of skyrocketing condo fees, collapsing buildings, staggering special assessments, and insurance carriers exiting the market. Here, in Acton MA and 10 other pilot communities in Massachusetts, Decarbonization ordinances require that large-scale projects be fossil fuel free. Our volunteer boards don't have the capacity to Plan, Finance, and Manage large scale redevelopment projects. We need help.
We ask you to join ThisOldNeighborhood.Net in Town Meeting, to share our needs & visions of a #NewWayForward. We ask you to join ThisOldNeighborhood.Net in Town Meeting, to share our needs & visions of a #NewWayForward. Topics we’ll discuss:
How We Reinvest in & Redevelop our aging neighborhoods, without breaking the bank?
How we do it in the context of new building codes requiring fossil fuel free redevelopment.
How we Buy Local, Build Local, and Invest Local.
How do we access the Municipal Planning, Engineering, Financing, and Purchasing services that our taxes pay for, but that stop at the boundaries of neighborhoods managed by Condominium & Homeowners Associations?
We call this Town Meeting so that those of us living in aging neighborhoods can voice our needs. In subsequent sessions, we will invite our local, state, and national representatives to address these needs with specific programs, and funding. The event will be held as a zoom conference, with breakout sessions for discussion.

This Town Meeting is Being Organized by ThisOldNeighborhood.Net and Civic.Net, as part of an effort to organize a Condominium Owners Network and create a Permanent Civic Forum to collect & promote the needs of Condominium Owners of America. We are currently engaged in a study of Facilities Master Planning & Acquisitions Models for comprehensive redevelopment of aging condominium complexes in the 10 communities participating in the Massachusetts Municipal Fossil Fuel Free Construction & Renovation Demonstration Program - where communities have enacted “Decarbonization” ordinances that apply to new construction & major renovations. A major goal of our work is to Provide Condominium & Homeowners Associations with Planning, Engineering, Acquisitions, and Financing resources akin to those available to owners of properties directly supported by municipal government & launching BuyLocal/BuildLocal/InvestLocal programs to support Condominium Associations.
